Aarchi hugged Kaira and Rishav briefly before heading out as Vihaan followed her. Both of them sat in the car.
"You don't use Spotify?" Vihaan asked as he heard the ad.
"I do use but I like listening to radio more" She said glancing at the rear mirror and changing the lanes.
"Why?" Vihaan asked interested.
"Its always a surprise of what songs is played next. Some days you like the songs they play and other days you wonder what drugs they are on to play depressing songs" She said with a small smile.
"So you like being surprised is what you mean?" Vihaan asked turning towards her. She nodded her head.
"Was it really the soap that made your eyes red?" He asked looking out of the window, knowing that she wouldn't appreciate anyone looking at her in the moment. She pulled the breaks as the traffic signal turned red.
"You all need to give me time to mourn over a relation which might have not been true from his side but from mine it was a promise of 'until death'. I need time to figure it out myself" Aarchi said turning her head towards him who also turned to look at her.
"What can we do to make it better?" He asked holding her gaze steady.
"Don't tell my brothers about it. I don't want to worry them about someone they didn't even meet. I've asked mumma and papa not to tell them and I expect the same from you" She said changing the gears as the traffic signal changed from red to yellow to green.
"They deserve to know who broke their sister's heart" Vihaan tried to reason with her.
"So they can hunt him down and make him disappear from the face of Earth? I prefer not. They have their own lives and I'd be happier if they didn't have to be troubled with my problems" She said looking ahead at the road.
"Funny of you to think that your brothers would think that you trouble them. But if that is what you wish then I will not spill a bean to them" Vihaan said with a smile that kept her worries at bay.
"Thank you" She nodded her head with a smile as she looked at him.
"Why Lifeline Hospital though?"
"What answer do you want to listen to?" She asked as a genuine smile played on her lips.
"Anything that would boost the Malhotra ego" He said slyly chuckling.
"As we all know, I am the Ranawat Princess so nothing other than the best would be chosen for me. Additionally, my best friend happens to belong to a royal family who have multiple chains of hospitals and are known to serve those in need, where health is placed above finance" She said with a smile, looking in the mirror on his side and in the rear mirror above her head, changing tracks.
"I am honored to hear first-hand praise of our legacy" He joked.
"What about you? Back home to seize your throne?" She asked overtaking another car.
"You could say that. An empty throne is a threat to the kingdom. Either an enemy takes it or you place a family member on it" He said making her laugh. They stayed silent for a while before Vihaan spoke again.
"So what are your plans after work?"
"Home, dinner and then sleep" She said her general routine since Arush would be away or otherwise she would end up at his place and sit with an ice-cream tub as they both watch The Notebook where she'd cry on his shoulder, and he'd make snarky comments about the movie.
"More like avoid interactions with humans, get into your warm, fuzzy blanket and pour your heart out so the next day you have even redder and puffier eyes?" He asked sarcastically making her look at him with an open mouth.
"I am sorry for going through a breakup. Apologies for doing what normal people do when they go through a heartbreak" She replied him sarcastically.
"Come with me home, we'd throw you a heart break party" He said trying to make her happy.
"I prefer solitude" She replied glancing at him.
"Ohh come on don't be a spoilsport. Just come. I've already convinced uncle and aunty, its just you" He said looking at her pleadingly.
"Nope"
"I see now that your bestie isn't going to be there you don't want to come home. You only have relations with my brother, I see. No problem, even though my parents and I'd be hurt by your blunt agreement with my words but we'll get over it" Vihaan said holding a hand on to his chest, right above where his heart is and looked at hurt as if she kicked his puppy hard across the road. Aarchi turned around at him and looked at him surprised and shook her head.
"That's emotional blackmailing if you know" She said too stunned to speak.
"Is it working?" Vihaan looked at her cutely, forming a smile on Aarchi's lips.
"I see it is. If it is working,ย then I am doing a good job at convincing" Vihaan patted his shoulder proudly.
"That's not how convincing looks like, this is more of a blackmail" She said as she parked the car in the parking lot.
"Potato-Potahto, tomato-tohmahto, semantics" He shrugged his shoulder and unstrapped the seatbelt.
"I am pretty sure you failed your English course if you think this is semantics" She unstrapped while smiling.
"I passed the course with distinction, Princess Royal" He walked to her side and opened the door for her with a bow making her laugh out loudly. She stepped out and tipped her head in appreciation.ย
"I see the Royal training hasn't gone to vain" She said laughing, taking her purse from the back seat.
"Indeed" He held out his arm for her and stood with a straight back.
"This is madness" She pushed his arm down, shaking her head at his antics as everyone around them looked at them curiously.
"Keep smiling like this Ranawat Princess, you'll brighten the lives of those who have embraced the darkness" He said placing a hand on her head. She tipped her head up to look at him to find him smiling at her.
"I needed that, thank you" She smiles at him slightly to which he pats her shoulder as both of them walk inside the hospital.ย
"Arey O Rajaji..." Aarchi stopped him before he got lost in the crowd.
"Yeah?" He turned around confused.
"Welcome to your kingdom" She held out her hand with a huge welcoming smile that couldn't stop him from smiling back at her.
"You'll be great. This is your fort, and you are awesome at what you do" She said reassuring him, calming down his nerves. He didn't realise it until she pointed it out subtly.
"Get to work Ranawat Princess, or you'll be fired on your second day" He said chuckling, still holding her hand in his grip.
"Ahh there we go again... The classic asshole hat worn by the bosses" She laughed pulling her hand away from his.
"See you at noon" Aarchi said turning around as she walked towards her department and he walked towards his.
