8. Growing Closer

"Vihaan" Aarchi ran behind him as he picked up a plate of flowers and turned around and threw them on her. She stopped at the assault of the soft petals on her face.

"Wait till I catch you" She said pushing away the rose petals from her hair as she chased him. He ran until the last room in the alley and found himself trapped.

"Now where will you go?" She asked teasingly.ย

"Where will you go?" Vihaan changed the tactic and started taking slow steps towards her. Aarchi's eyes widened in shock seeing him take predatory steps towards her.

"This isn't fair, I was chasing you. You ate my food" She took slow steps backwards.

"Then why are you walking backwards?" He asked with a smirk. Aarchi looked around and thought about it before she also took a step ahead. She saw they were in a study which looked beautiful with the rays of setting sun peeking in through the slits of the curtains. Aarchi picked up the ruler and asked Vihaan to place his hand ahead.

"I am sorry" Vihaan said laughing, trying to escape her. He took a step to right which made Aarchi also take a step to right to stop him.

"Hand infront" She said holding the ruler in her right hand to hit him. Seeing there was no chance of escaping her, he kept his hand ahead. She raised the ruler in the air and he bent down on one knee with his head bowed infront of her as he held his hand out for her. Aarchi knew she wasn't going to hit him but seeing his behaviour colour crept on her cheeks and she lowered the ruler by her side.

Vihaan anticipated a harsh sting on his palm but instead felt a soft palm on his which made him look at her shocked.

"Next time you eat my food, it will definetely be a stick hitting your palm" She said holding his hand and trying to pull him up with a smile. A smile formed on his face as he nodded holding his hand to his one ear and apologizing with his eyes. Aarchi shook her head forgiving him.

"We go down?" She asked seeing that she hadn't been able to even move him slightly. Vihaan chuckled at her failed efforts and stood up nodding his head.ย

"Where were you?" Rishav asked seeing a petal in Aarchi's hair and stood up to remove it but Vihaan beat him and helped remove a flower petal from her hair.

"Ohh" Aarchi gave Vihaan a sweet smile for helping her which he reciprocated with a nod. Rishav noticed the exchange with an eagle's eyes and looked at Vihaan to take his hands off his daughter.

"Seems like my both sons have a thing for her" Veer whispered in Rishav's ear playfully earning a glare from him.

"Keep them away from my daughter or else they'll end up limbs-less" He said angrily standing up to pull Aarchi to his side. Aarchi smiled not knowing the conversation and sat beside Rishav who kept her in place by placing his shoulder on her shoulder. Vihaan sat beside Veer and got busy on his phone. Rishav kept noticing if Vihaan turned to look at Aarchi but when he didn't Rishav breathed in in satisfaction that Vihaan wasn't interested in Aarchi that way.

Aarchi got busy in talking with everyone and forgot about anything that hurt her or pained her earlier.

"Dinner's ready Rani ma" A worker came and informed them. Ridhima ushered everyone to the dining room except Vihaan and Aarchi.

"You guys can't be wanting to eat with us oldies" Kaira said holding her hands to her waist.

"Oldie? You could be talking about your husbands warna aap toh abhi bhi jawaan ho" Vihaan flirted with Kaira making her look away from him shyly as she blushed and hit him.

"If he hears you na then you are done for beta ji" Kaira said tapping Vihaan's cheeks.

"Go watch a movie or something, live life while you are still young" Ridhima said smiling mischievously to Kaira. Vihaan and Aarchi looked at each other confused and rolled their eyes knowing that the ladies were never up to any good. Kaira and Ridhima disappeared in the living room leaving the two.

"You wanna go outside for dinner?" Vihaan asked checking the time on his phone.

"But aunty made food" Aarchi said looking at the dining room behind him.

"You really think they care whether we have food here or not?" Vihaan asked shrugging his shoulders.

"Let's go out. I hope you don't have specific expectations on the restaurant style" He said holding her hand and pulling her with him.

"But where?" She followed him.

"What do you want to eat?" He asked making her sit in the car.

"Something tangy and sweet and sour and spricy" She said making noises as he laughed at her excitement.

"I know the perfect place for it" He drove to a 3-star restaurant known for its Chats. Both sat down in a corner table and looked over at the menu and then at each other.

"What do you want to have?" Vihaan asked flipping the menu.

"Palak chat, sev puri, pani puri, dahi bhalle and spicy masala corn" Aarchi said keeping the menu down. Vihaan nodded and asked for a waiter who quickly came and took their order.

"You don't like ordering?" Aarchi asked noticing that he just made her order into two instead of ordering something else.

"Not like that just that I feel tired in thinking what I want to eat" He said relaxing on the chair.

"Are you dating anyone?" She asked confused at his behaviour. He was a total gentleman when it came to being around women, he was a charmer and she had no doubt on it but sometimes he seemed lost too.

"Not right now, why?" He asked curiously.

"Just like that. Are you interested in finding one?" She asked playfully looking around in the restaurant for girls who could be totally his type.

"What is your story?" She asked curiously, placing her elbow on the table and her chin on the hand.

"Phir kabhi" He looked away with a sad smile.

"She cheated or had she not moved on from her ex?" Aarchi asked wondering which of the two could be true in his case since none of the theories she had in her mind were matching him and his style. There was no way any girl would cheat on a man like him who is sweet and a gentleman to you and even if someone hadn't moved on from their ex, he was charming enough to help them move on.

"I forgot how you Ranawats can get persistent" Vihaan said shaking his head with a smile. Aarchi shrugged her shoulders as if she already knew that.

"None of the above" He replied casually.

"Do you still love her?" Aarchi asked looking out of the place to the bustling city.

"I do..." He said looking out too.

"Liar" Aarchi turned to look at him and said with a frown. Vihaan looked at her shocked and confused.

"Why do you think that?" He asked sitting upright.

"If you still love her then why do you visit a sex club?" She asked whispering to him.

"How do you know about that?" He asked shocked.

"I read the notification. You can't say I was trespassing my boundaries because your phone was right infront of my eyes and my brain happened to process the words" She said holding her index finger at him.

"Accusation accepted" He said holding his hands in air. Aarchi didn't like that he let go of the arguement without proving himself.

"Fight back na, tell me I am thinking wrong or I am missing a few pieces of information. Don't just agree to things you haven't done" She scolded him and glared at him until he didn't answer.

"Yes I go there but not to have sex but to just sit there. I had met her in sex club like the one here. I feel like if I go there I'll meet her again and we can be a thing" He said huffing out glad that someone was listening to him.

"That's crazy you know. There's like a huge ocean of pheromones and you don't have sexual intercourse with any and its also cute that you think you'll meet her again" She said placing her one hand on top of his showing her support to him.

"You won't judge me for it?" He asked shocked. He was used to his friends asking him to visit any more sex clubs but here she sat not slightly bothered with the idea of it.

"Have the ones who judged you for it asked you why you visit the place?" She replied his question with another that made him smile.

"You for sure are a Ranawat Princess. Tell your father and brothers to keep you locked in your palace or else you will go breaking poor men's hearts" He said impressed by her way of thinking. Soon their order was served and they dug into it.

"Are you up for hooking up? We can look for one here" Aarchi asked with a mischievious smile. Vihaan looked at her shocked and then calmed down and played along.

"3 oclock" She said sipping onto cold coffee.

"Huh?" He looked at her confused.

"Imagine a clock and look in the direction of 3 o'clock" She said trying to show him the girl on to his right.

"Ayee" She stopped him by holding his face with wide eyes and a smile.

"You can't look directly, you need to find a reason to look at that side" She said rolling her eyes. He nodded his head laughing and pretended that he was just looking around at the cafe.

"Pataka?" She asked when he looked back at her.

"Nahh not my type. Check 6 o'clock" He took a bite of the palak chat. She streched her neck on her right and left side to look behind him.

"Not bad Mr." She looked at him impressed.

"5:30 is also pretty" He said pulling her cold coffee towards him.

"What is 5:30, it's either 5 or 6" She laughed.

"She's sitting at the table that's between 5 and 6" He said returning her her cup.

"Uffff you want me to go talk to her about you? She's actually very pretty and looks like exactly your type" She said almost standing up when he made her sit by placing his hand on hers.

"I don't need you to set me up with someone when am already sitting infront of a very pretty girl" He flirted with her making her look away from him with a shy smile.

"See that smile" He pointed at her smile. She looked at him asking him to continue speaking.

"Keep smiling like that and you'll break men's hearts with your killer smile" He continued flirting with her making her smile widen.

"Look at those intoxicating eyes that light up when you smile, do you drown people in your love like that?" She looked at him with her smile shortening.

"They aren't that intoxicating because if they were, he would have not imagined someone else when he looked me in the eyes and promised me a forever" She finished her food and smiled sadly.

"How long are you going to let him rule you?" He asked finishing his cup too.

"Have you gotten over her?" She asked him that shut him up.

"I might have not gotten over her but I haven't also given her the steering wheel of my life. I failed in love once doesn't mean I won't be in love again" He said calling for a waiter for the bill.

"What about the insecurities from the past love?" She asked him.

"You know when people say that 'they complete each other', for something to be completed, it needs to be incomplete on its own. Its a jigsaw puzzle, you just don't need the right piece but you also need a meaningful piece for you and that person to be fit with each other, that's when the picture is complete" He said tapping the credit card on the scanner and waiting for the receipt to be printed.
